We install and replace CGI door components throughout San Antonio, with most complete door installations running between $450 and $1,400 depending on the panel, track condition, and hardware involved. If you have a CGI door that binds, drags, or no longer seals against Texas dust and summer heat, we stock the common wear parts on our trucks and can usually complete the swap in a single visit. Most owners discover the problem the same way: the door starts catching mid-track, or a corner drops just enough to leave a sliver of daylight along the jamb. By the time you notice it, the rollers or hinge pins have usually been wearing for months.
Which CGI Models This Applies To
CGI manufactures doors across several lines, and the hardware is not always interchangeable between them. The most common units we see in San Antonio are CGI’s impact-rated hinged patio doors, their sliding glass door series, and their commercial-grade storefront doors. Compatibility matters here: a roller assembly from a CGI sliding door will not fit a hinged unit, and even within sliding models, the 7000-series and the heavier impact-rated lines use different track profiles and wheel diameters. The reliable way to identify your door is to check the sticker on the door slab edge or the top rail of the panel. You’re looking for a model or series code, usually a four-digit number followed by a letter. If that sticker is gone, we measure the wheel diameter, the track gap, and the panel weight to match the part.
On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: for CGI doors, we prefer OEM parts when the door is still under warranty or when it’s an impact-rated unit. The tolerances on CGI’s hurricane-rated hardware are tight, and an aftermarket roller with a half-millimeter difference in wheel profile will drag and wear the track. For older CGI doors out of warranty, quality aftermarket rollers and handles are often the better value, and we will tell you which parts genuinely match and which ones will cause problems in Texas heat. Lightwell Windows San Antonio is an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI, and we carry parts alongside PGT, CWS, and ES Windows components so we can match what your home already has.

Signs Your CGI Door Installation Is Failing
- The door drags or requires a shoulder to open. This almost always comes down to worn rollers or hinge pins. On sliding doors, the wheel bearings flatten over time and the panel rides on the track rather than rolling. On hinged doors, the bottom hinge carries most of the weight, and once its pin wears, the door sags.
- You see daylight or feel a draft along the edge. The weatherstripping on CGI doors is a compression gasket. Once the panel alignment shifts even an eighth of an inch, that gasket stops meeting the frame evenly. In San Antonio, you’ll feel it as a warm draft in August and dust along the sill in spring.
- The lock no longer lines up. A worn roller or hinge lets the panel drop, which pulls the latch out of alignment with the strike plate. If you have to lift the handle to lock the door, the panel position has already shifted.
- The door rattles in the wind. CGI doors are heavy. When rollers or hinge bushings wear, that mass starts moving in wind gusts, and you hear it against the frame. It’s not just noise; the panel is working the fasteners loose.
- The track is grooved or the rollers sound gritty. Once a roller stops rolling, it becomes a sled. Steel wheel edges scrape the aluminum track and carve grooves into it. At that point, replacing the roller alone will not fix the problem; the track needs work or replacement too.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In San Antonio, you should expect to pay between $450 and $1,400 for a complete CGI door hardware replacement, including parts and labor. A simple roller and track replacement on a standard sliding panel runs $250 to $450. A full hardware set on a hinged door, including hinges, handle, and strike, typically lands between $300 and $650. If the track itself is grooved or the panel frame is warped, you’re looking at the upper end of the range, and in some cases a panel replacement makes more sense than rebuilding worn hardware. We write every price down before work starts, so you know the exact number before a single screw comes out. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the finished install is not right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely identify a failing CGI door: watch where it binds, check the sticker for the model code, and note whether the track looks scored. That information saves us time and you money. What you should not do is attempt to remove a heavy sliding panel or a hinged door slab alone. These panels can weigh over 100 pounds, and once the rollers clear the track, the panel wants to fall forward. Pinched fingers, crushed toes, and cracked glass are the common outcomes. If the door is impact-rated, the glass alone can weigh more than a standard door panel. We bring the lifting equipment, the shims, and a second set of hands. If you want to talk through what you’re seeing on your door, call (325) 420-4173 and Keith Yamada or one of our technicians will walk you through it.
FAQs
CGI door hardware generally lasts 8 to 15 years in San Antonio, but the Texas heat shortens that on west-facing doors where afternoon sun bakes the track and dries out bearing grease. If your door faces the western exposure, expect to replace rollers closer to the 8-year mark. Call (325) 420-4173 for an inspection and an exact quote.
Some issues, like minor track cleaning or weatherstripping compression, can be repaired. Once rollers or hinge pins are worn, repair is a temporary fix; replacement is the honest recommendation. We’ll tell you which one applies to your door and quote you the repair cost before any work starts.
Most roller, hinge, and hardware replacements are completed in two to four hours on site. If the track needs replacement, expect a full day. We schedule the visit in a window that works for your household, and our crew cleans up before they leave, including a photo of the finished work.
We stock the common CGI rollers, hinge pins, handles, and weatherstripping on our trucks, so many jobs are completed the same visit. For less common parts or full panel replacements, we order directly and typically have them within a week. Call (325) 420-4173 and we’ll check availability for your specific model.
